Shoaib Malik Creates T20 History Hours After Marriage Announcement
Pakistan cricket all-rounder Shoaib Malik, amidst speculation about his divorce from Indian tennis star Sania Mirza, made headlines by announcing his marriage to actress Sana Javed in Karachi. The veteran cricketer, who recently achieved a milestone by becoming the first Asian player and second overall to score 13,000 runs in T20 cricket during a Bangladesh Premier League match, also contributed with a wicket in the game. Despite retiring from Test and ODI cricket, Malik remains active in T20 cricket and is set to be part of the T20 World Cup 2024.
The announcement of his third marriage put an end to ongoing rumors about his separation from Sania Mirza. Sources suggest that Sania initiated the divorce proceedings, marked by a ‘khula,’ a right in Muslim tradition allowing a woman to unilaterally divorce her husband. The couple, who got married in 2010, had been rumored to have differences since 2022, and Malik recently unfollowed Mirza on Instagram.
The social media activity of the 37-year-old Sania also hinted at her undergoing stress.
